Jakarta — State-owned aircraft maker PT Dirgantara (PTDI) will carry out maintenance on Airbus helicopters following the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) during French President Francois Hollande visit to Jakarta on Wednesday (29/03). With the MoU, Airbus helicopters will help PTDI develop local support and services by setting up relevant maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Indonesia. PTDI technology and development director Andi Alisjahbana said that the MoU would boost PTDI’s MRO. “We have bought many Airbus products and the MoU is a momentum to boost MRO services in Indonesia, Andi said on Thursday (30/03). Andi said that Indonesian airline maintenance contracts were worth US$920 million a year and was expected to reach US$2 billion over the next four years. However, due to a lack of maintenance facilities, only 30 percent of contracts went to Indonesian MRO. “The rest went to neighboring countries like Australia and Singapore.
