Jakarta — People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan held a meeting with President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday (06/03). The two leaders talked on how Indonesia has been handling conflicts between different tribes, religions and ethnic groups in the country. “I told the president that our state ideology Pancasila has helped us to live united, peacefully, under the Republic of Indonesia,” Zulkifli said. The MPR chairman said the Afghanistan National Assembly should send a delegation to Indonesia to share experience and knowledge. Ghani meanwhile stressed the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries. Afghanistan especially asked for Indonesia’s support in the economic sector. “The president wants more Indonesian investment in Afghanistan, especially in the natural and mineral resources,” Zulkifli said. Zulkifli was accompanied in the meeting by deputy chairmen Mahyudin, E.E. Mangindaan, Oesman Sapta Odang and Hidayat Nur Wahid. The Afghan leader had already met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday. After the MPR visit, he was also scheduled to meet with scholars from various Muslim organizations at the Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta.
