INASGOC reopens registration for Asian Games volunteers


Jakarta — The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) reopens the registration for 13,000 volunteers to all Indonesian people through its website: “We need 13 thousand volunteers that would be divided into 11 thousand people for placement in Jakarta and two thousand in Palembang,” said Pusparani, Director of Human Resources and Volunteers Affairs of INASGOC, here on Wednesday (17/01). According to her, volunteers will be divided into four task categories, namely assistant protocols that will accompany important foreign guests, escort delegates of Asian Games participating countreis including officials and athletes, inter-agency links and general assignment in the field. The candidates of volunteers will undergo selection, which will be handled by 10 state institutions, so they are free from criminal involvement. Apart from that Pusparani said that 1,574 people have already passed the volunteer selection for the Asian Games match trials that will be carried out on February 10-24. “Around 300 out of the 1,574 volunteers are foreign nationals who hail from Asian countries and also from Russia and Australia,” she explained adding that the Asian Games volunteers will get uniforms, training and certificates from INASGOC. Previously, the INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir said his side requires volunteers aged between 18 and 40 for supporting the implementation of the Asian Games. “We also accommodate volunteers who understand Arabic, Chinese and Japanese languages,” he remarked.
