Jakarta — The president of the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions, Andi Gani Nena Wea, has estimated that some 75,000 to 85,000 people will attend a May Day rally in front of the Presidential Palace on May 1, or May Day, in Jakarta. “Meanwhile, around 200,000 people will rally across Indonesia,” said Gani in Kemang, South Jakarta on Saturday (28/04). Ganies went on to say that this year the rallies would raise several concerns including the methods used to calculate minimum wages, protections for ride-hailing app drivers and stricter law enforcement and monitoring of foreign workers.
